Handful Media · in plain English
A billboard. But in your hand.
Local businesses pay to put their ad on the coffee cups cafes hand out. The cafe gets paid for every cup. Pizza boxes and takeaway bags work the same way.
How it works
- A business wants to be seenSay, the yoga studio down the road.
- It pays HandfulTo be on the cups at the cafes near it.
- The cafe puts a sticker or sleeve on every cupAnd gets paid for every cup it serves.
- Customers carry the adDown the street, into the office, into the car.
Think of a footy jersey.
Sports teams get paid to wear a sponsor's logo. A cafe hands out hundreds of cups a day and gets paid nothing for that space. Handful changes that.
One cafe, one month
3,000 cupsa busy cafe's coffees in a month, every one carrying the yoga studio's name around the suburb
The cafe earns extra money with no cost and no change to its prices. The studio is seen by locals every day, and pays only for the cups that actually went out, counted from the cafe's till.
Not just coffee cups
Coffee cups
- A sticker or sleeve on every cup
- Carried down the street and onto desks
Pizza boxes
- A sticker on the box, or a flyer on top
- Every delivery and every pickup
- Opened at home, on the kitchen table
Takeaway bags
- A flyer dropped in the bag with the food
- Think the local Thai or Chinese takeaway
- Nothing extra to stick, just pop it in
Everyone wins
The cafe or takeaway
- Gets paid for every branded cup, box or bag
- No cost to the cafe
- Chooses which businesses it carries
The business
- Its ad is in people's hands, not on a wall they drive past
- Pays for its printed stickers, sleeves or flyers
- Pays only for items that went out
- Gets a count and QR scans every month
Handful
- Signs up the cafes and finds the businesses
- Prints and delivers the stickers, sleeves and flyers, counts every item, pays the venue
- Takes a small cut of each cup
Why now
Cafes are doing it tough. Since 1 October 2026 they can't add a surcharge for card payments, so the fees come out of their margin. A branded cup brings in money without putting prices up.
